Jeff Rust has been named vice president of operations at WBI Energy, Inc. In this position Rust will provide leadership for the company’s transmission and midstream operations that span throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. Rust will work from the company’s headquarters in Bismarck, North Dakota, and will assume the post on May 4.
“Jeff is a proven leader with deep experience in many facets of the energy industry,” said Steve Bietz, president and chief executive officer of WBI Energy. “His knowledge and experience will be valuable as we continue to provide reliable service to our customers and implement our growth plans in North Dakota’s Bakken region and beyond.”
Rust previously served as project director at Bilfinger-Westcon and was the lead project director for the Dakota Prairie Refinery facility being built near Dickinson, North Dakota, a joint venture project between WBI Energy and Calumet Specialty Products Partners. Rust also served as corporate safety director and a project manager during his 24-year career at Bilfinger-Westcon. Before his work with Bilfinger-Westcon, Rust worked in the energy exploration and production industry.
He holds a business administration degree from Minot State University. Rust currently serves as the board chairman of the North Dakota Safety Council and is also a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers. He is a native of Martin, North Dakota, and he and his wife, Laura, have two grown children.
Rust is replacing Scott Fradenburgh who has elected to retire after a 34-year career with the company. “A heart-felt thank you goes out to Scott for his years of dedication and support of our efforts,” Bietz said. “Scott’s leadership was key in creating an efficient operational structure and in our ability to build and maintain our pipeline systems. We wish him the very best in retirement.” Fradenburgh will retire from his position in July 2015.
