Company positions itself in Bakken with new office building
Denver-based SM Energy Company (NYSE: SM), an independent exploration and production company with operations in onshore North America, announced that its office located in Williston is officially open for business. SM Energy celebrated the occasion with a grand opening event the evening of Thursday, October 29 at the company’s new office building.
The 28,000-square-foot office space has more than 3,000 square feet of exterior glass, 72 offices, seven conference rooms, a large bistro, a 120-person training facility and a 4,000 square foot shop and warehouse attached to the building. SM Energy executives, government officials and guests gathered to celebrate both the new office complex and the company’s commitment to do business in North Dakota with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony, guided office tours, and food and refreshments catered by The Williston. Remarks were made by representatives from Senator Heitkamp and Congressman Cramer’s office, City of Williston Mayor Klug; and SM Energy representatives, including president and CEO Jay Ottoson.
“At SM Energy, one of our core values is to provide employees a rewarding and productive work experience,” said Ottoson. “Today is an exciting day for our company as we officially open our Williston office doors for business.”
The conference rooms feature the latest audio visual technology, such as video conferencing, electronic whiteboards and video streaming. The entire building was built to be energy efficient, utilizing sensor controlled lighting and LED efficient fixtures.
“This facility is certainly a tangible indication of our commitment to growing our business here in North Dakota,” said Ottoson. “We look forward to continuing our long standing business partnership with the State of North Dakota, our landowners, and the communities in which we live, work and operate in this region.”
